FireSafe 240



FireSafe 240 fire curtain offers versatile fixing options tailored for various ceiling configurations, seamlessly integrating into both suspended and solid ceilings. This advanced fire curtain solution stays discreetly concealed until activation is needed.

Triggered by signals from the fire detection system or power loss, the automatic fire curtain descends to its fire operational position, providing reliable fire protection.

FireSafe 240 Overview:

  • - Protects openings up to 30m wide with a vertically overlapping system and heights up to 6m.
  • - Electrically operated Automatic Fire Curtain designed to form a barrier against fire.


    • FireSafe 240 Safety Classifications:

    • - Classification of E240 EW30 Sa C0 according to BS EN 13501 2:2007+A1:2009.
    • - Endured 25 pre-conditioned cycles, achieving a C0 classification per BS EN 14600:2005.
    • - Fire-resistance test performance exceeded 240 minutes to BS EN 1634 1:2008 following BS EN 1363 1:1999.
    • - Radiation measured below 15kW/m² for up to 41 minutes, meeting BS EN 1634 1:2008 and BS EN 1363 2:1999 standards.
    • - Smoke leakage test resulted in an Sa classification to BS EN 1634 3:2004.


    Fire Curtain Details:

    • - Constructed from a lightweight glass fabric reinforced with stainless steel wire.
    • - Coated with a fire-retardant aluminium pigment polyurethane coating.
    • - Fabric weight is approximately 640g/m², with a nominal thickness of 0.5mm.


    Tested To:

    • - Independently tested for reaction to fire per BS EN ISO 1716:2010 and BS EN 13823:2010.
    • - Achieved a classification of A2-s1, d0 as per BS EN 13501 1:2007+A1:2009.

Over a number of years Smoke & Fire Curtains Ltd. have invested heavily in new production techniques and innovative developments. Although development work and fire testing certification can be a very long and very expensive process we continue to develop new fire curtain systems in order to improve and develop further our own systems in design. In 2019 we were recognised for our innovation and were winners of the Leicester Mercury Business Awards collecting the Freeth’s Award for Excellence in Science and Technology.

Optional Extras

  • Split Drop

    An optional braking system is available to allow a stage descent during deployment. Partial descent to a predetermined level to permit preliminary escape and initial smoke containment, after delay the barrier descends to full operational position.

  • Beam Sensors

    A beam sensor by itself can be used as either a block sensor or an override; when the fire alarm goes off and someone passes through the barrier the beam sensor can be wired to either stop the barrier in its tracks or to retract the barrier.
    Please note that when used in isolation the beam sensor does not trigger a sound.

  • Delay on Alarm

    The system control can be programmed to allow a time delay on the alarm for a number of minutes before the barrier descends to its fire operational position.

  • Audio Visual Alert

    Flashing light and sirens are connected to the control panel and provide a warning when the barrier is about to descend. When the fire alarm is triggered, and the fire farrier deploys the beacon will flash and a sounder alert until the signal from the alarm is lost.

  • Smoke Seals

    Placed within the steel side guides and top box the smoke seals provide total smoke containment as the fire curtain descends.

  • Emergency Retract Button

    Hold on retract facility for escape and emergency service access.
